What data I handle and why

If you subscribe to Shiori, I store your email address, the sign-up date, the IP address you subscribed from, the page you subscribed on, the page language and the record of your consent. I use them to send you the newsletter and, now and then, a notice about Shiori. I also see basic open and click statistics, to learn which issues interest people most.

If you email me, I use your message and contact details only to reply.

Legal basis

Your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form and confirming your email. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email, without affecting the processing done before.

Who else has access

I use MailerLite to manage the list and send emails. It acts as a data processor under a signed processing agreement and stores the data in data centres in the European Union. The site is hosted on Vercel. I do not sell or share your data with anyone.

If you book a call from the site, the booking happens on Cal.com, which handles your data under its own terms. Data may also be disclosed to public authorities or courts when the law requires it.

International transfers

Vercel Inc. is based in the United States and may process technical data about your visit, such as your IP address, outside the European Economic Area. Those transfers rely on the safeguards the GDPR provides for, such as standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, under the provider’s agreements. The Shiori list data stays in the European Union.

How long I keep it

For as long as you stay subscribed. If you unsubscribe, I delete your data from the active list and keep only the minimum record needed to show that I honoured your request and to deal with possible liabilities, for as long as the applicable law requires. I keep emails you send me for as long as needed to reply and to deal with possible liabilities. When data is no longer needed, I delete or block it as the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask me for access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing and portability of your data by writing to contact@adrianmartin.me, saying which right you want to exercise. If you think the processing does not comply with the rules, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD).

Security and changes

I apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the data. I make no automated decisions and build no profiles with it. If this policy changes, I will update the date above and tell the list when the change affects you.
